Bambi Deluxe

Cooly may be Australia’s #1 surfing district, but it’s also home to no-nonsense locals irked by the parking woes and tourist schmooze of Griffith Street. Enter Bambi, the quiet achiever. She’s freshly kitted out with recycled timber benches handcrafted in Kingscliff, but you’ll soon realise it’s superior coffee in a side-street location that sets her apart from the show ponies on the main drag.

A select boutique roaster provides their two house blends, with plans to introduce single origin and feature blends. Owner/operators Michael and Karen know their regulars by name or beverage, and their¬†beanhunter.com¬†rating is proof of Michael’s barista chops. Try a cake or slice baked on the premises and join a passionate following of locals and surfing identities who use curious terms like ‘mad dog’ and ‘gnarly’ to describe a gem that’s been on the hush hush too long.
