Comb ArtSpace

Unbeknownst to city-dwelling gallery goers, there’s more to the Byron-to-Palm Beach corridor than meets the eye. Nowadays it’s 75 odd kilometres of seaside-roving whiz kids who collect Copic markers like Tazos and view their skateboards as additional limbs. And when they’re not making tons of art, they’re loitering with their curator cronies at Comb ArtSpace.

Aside from its sweet new spot below Never Land in Coolangatta, the best thing about Comb is its complete transformation every three weeks. Math dictates that’s about one contemporary art party per month to tickle your right brain over live music and drinks. When the sun’s out there’s espresso and records on repeat, but we can’t say exhibitions like September’s psychedelic Western Huckleberry show are any less of a mind-eff while hopped up on caffeine. Either way this is now the space to watch for up-and-comers like Daniel Ford, Kylie Spear and Shida.
