Beachfront is great, but absolute beachfront is Oskars. Seriously, if Oskars was any closer to the ocean you’d be passing the salt to King Trident. And for a milestone to celebrate or a landlubbing out-of-towner to impress, we reckon it’s just about the perfect spot to enjoy a rose-tinted Burleigh sunset away from the slurpee-swilling crowd.
Oskars has been a Burleigh fave since 1980, and in Gold Coast years (similar to dog years, i.e. 1=7) that’s pretty legendary. But if you were expecting a stale surf club aesthetic, you’d be dead wrong. The interiors present a modern elegance that’s far from stuffy. Chef/owner Marty Kollrepp’s menu is fresh and seasonal, with the best of Australian seafood like Yamba snapper and Mooloolaba king prawns Oskars-style. But if seafood isn’t your soft spot, try a succulent steak or the likes of fried zucchini flowers with baby beetroot, herbed goats curd and truffle honey.
