On any given night, Broadie is seething with indecisive diners. After several aimless laps of Surf Parade, it’s only a matter of time before someone is ravenous enough to devour a doner kebab or small child. Watch the horrors unfold, or be a gold star citizen and tell them about RockSalt.

There’s a lot to be said for a trophy shelf that’s buckling with people’s choice awards, maitre’d awards and an AGFG Chef’s Hat since opening in 2008. RockSalt’s owner/chef Matt is an innovator who’s nabbed the title of the Coast’s top chef three years running. You could chalk that up to new-school approaches to Modern Australian fare like sustainable line-caught fish, hand-dived scallops and veggies from specialist organic QLD growers. You could also say that after 15 years in the kitchen, Matt is passionate about finally having his own restaurant, and it shows. A quick lap around cyberspace proves his loyal patrons are equally obsessed with posting grateful rave reviews.
