Is musical theatre your bowl of cherries? Then you’re probably up to your elbows in Spotlight already. You’ve zoot suited up for In The Mood. You’ve blubbered Boy George-style through The Wedding Singer. But what about everyone else, the ones still schlepping up to QPAC for a falsetto fix? They need go no further than Spotlight for classics like Monty Python’s Spamalot and Little Shop of Horrors.
Bloodthirsty potplants aside, it’s a crazy costume party obsessed world out there. Luckily Spotlight hires out digs from Grease, A Nightmare Before Christmas and everything in between. Before 3D movies there was 3D children’s theatre and it’s not too shabby an outing to grab a coffee in the Basement and watch their saucer-plate eyes expand as ‘real live actors’ reignite their love for storytelling. All this from a community theatre conceived in ’55 when The Boy From Oz was a still a Tenterfield kid and Mr G was a figment of Chris Lilley’s paternal gene pool.
